California Walks (Walk San Jose Program) was selected to support the City of San Jose’s Department of Transportation in developing the City’s Walk Safe San Jose Pedestrian Safety Plan project.

Walk Safe San José (WSSJ) is a pedestrian safety plan to encourage mode shift to walking, transit, and emerging mobility in four San Jose council districts (Districts 3, 5, 6, 7) that experience the most traffic fatalities and severe injuries in the City.

Cal Walks’ role in the project is to develop and implement an inclusive and equitable community engagement plan that will gather feedback, input, and reflections from various stakeholders, including target populations and other areas as identified through the process.

San Jose DOT was awarded the grant from the California Department of Transportation.
