SF BayWALKS is a volunteer-run organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area whose mission is to make the Bay Area safe and walkable for pedestrians of all abilities and ages. SF BayWALKS is a Network Affiliate of California WALKS.
SF BayWALKS aims to raise community awareness about pedestrian safety, enable and empower residents and community-based organizations to partner with public entities to improve safety, reduce injury and fatality rates and meet community pedestrian needs.
Areas of Focus:
- Policy and adminsitrative advocacy at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission/Association of Bay Area Governments to advance walkable and equitable communities.
- Pedestrian safety injury and fatality prevention advocacy and education with particular focus on vulnerable populations most at risk for injury and death (ie: children, seniors and persons with disabilities).
- Youth and community engagement and empowerment for walkable communities and pedestrian safety.
